Our Story
Company director Ian Martin practised & studied Painting and Decorating 41 years ago at H.M Chatham Dockyard, where he learnt from a long line of Master craftsman that taught him most of the skills he still uses to this day. After winning Apprentice of the year for 3 consecutive years and qualifying with the highest City & Guilds, Ian went on to start his own company in August 1985, since then has passed his knowledge down to his apprentices and employed only the best operatives to fulfill our promise for great customer service. Nowadays you cant buy the training that Ian had back then, combining this with a passion for Decorating and Design with complete knowledge of this industry makes for a fanstastic company to employ. These skills are very hard to find in todays market.

Company Director/ Founder of I.W.Martin and Sons Served his apprenticeship at H.M Royal Dockyard Chatham During the 1970s Won the Apprentice of the year award 3 years in succession. Started as a sole trader during the 1980s and formed a Private Limited Company in 2009.
Qualifications: City and Guild Craft Certificates, City and Guild Advanced Certificates.

Master Carpenter and Joiner. Worked for I.W.Martin and sons as a sub-contractor for 17 years. Completed his Apprenticeship for Carpentry and Joinery During the 1980s. Studied at City Way College for 4 years. A Highly Skilled and Experienced Carpenter and Joiner, Successfully Completed Projects for the National Trust. Specialist in onsite Handmade Bespoke Carpentry. Qualifications: City and Guilds, Carpentry and Joinery
